Short Bio

Alfred Parham, Ph.D., is an assistant clinical professor in the Educational Leadership program in the College of Education at Auburn University. He earned his B.S. in Education from Delaware State University, his U.S. Army Commission as a Second Lieutenant from the University of Delaware, his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Troy University, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Secondary School Administration from Auburn University.

 

Prior to his career in education, Dr. Parham served as a U.S. Army Infantry officer at the rank of Major/04 and Assistant Professor of Military Science at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  He was honorably discharged as a U.S. Army Disabled Veteran and was twice awarded the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal.

 

In 2019 and before accepting the position at Auburn, Parham retired as the Director of Student Services for the Muscogee County School District in Columbus, Georgia, and accepted a science teaching position at Phenix City Intermediate School for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

Dr. Parham served as a 2017 Cognia/AdvancED Review/Engagement Team Member for the Gwinnett County, Georgia School District, and for the 2018 review of the Clayton County School District located in Morrow, Georgia.  In August 2020, Dr. Parham was selected by Cognia to begin training as a lead evaluator and site visitor. He completed the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Site Visitor Training, and was granted a three-year license to serve as a CAEP site visitor/accreditation team member.  Dr. Parham also conducts peer review for the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement.

 

Dr. Parham is married to Sheila (Pitchford) Parham, a retired school counselor.  Both were born in Columbus, Georgia, and enjoy living in the Southeastern part of the United States.
